The challenge
A burst pipe over a weekend flooded an Auckland professional services firm's server room. By the time building management discovered it Sunday evening, the damage was done. Servers, switches, and workstations were destroyed. They called us expecting to be offline for weeks.
Our approach
Because they had proper cloud backups and a disaster recovery plan in place, we were able to move quickly. Within hours we had sourced replacement equipment through our vendor relationships, set up temporary workstations, and began restoring their systems from cloud backups. Staff came in Monday morning to find laptops waiting for them.
The outcome
By Tuesday afternoon, they were fully operational on temporary equipment while we worked with their insurance company on the permanent replacement. The insurance process took weeks, but the business disruption was measured in hours. Their client work continued uninterrupted, deadlines were met, and the only real casualty was some wet carpet. Without cloud backups and a recovery plan, they would have been rebuilding from scratch.
